FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS KOMBUCHA?
It is a nutritionally alive drink that utilizes a SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast), which assists in the process of fermentation. The “Scoby” is responsible for the breakage of large molecules into simpler molecules making it possible for your body to digest.
Due to fermentation, our product contains live cultures and a low trace of alcohol (<0.5%) similar to an unpasteurized fruit juice or apple cider.
WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
The origins of Kombucha have become lost in the mists of time. It is thought to have originated in Asia and has been consumed there for at least two thousand years. The first recorded use of kombucha comes from China in 221 BC during the Tsin Dynasty where this Eastern Tea was referred to as the “Remedy for Immortality” or the “Tea of Immortality”. However, it is from Japan in 415 AD that the name kombucha is said to have come when a Korean Physician called Kombu treated the Emperor Inyko with the tea. It is then when it took the name Kombucha; from the Physician’s name "Kombu" along with the word "cha" which in Chinese means tea.
